When his landlady Marsha (Julia Deakin) catches Tim (Simon Pegg) snogging
with his new girlfriend Sophie (Lucy Akhurst), she is shocked since she thinks
he & his flatmate Daisy (Jessica Stevenson) are a couple - a lie they have
made up to get the flat. So shocked is she that she - at Daisy's birthday
celebration at a fancy restaurant - tells her everything, & Daisy, slightly
drunk, tells her that they never really were a couple & have just lied to
her all the years, just to calm the situation. Her good intention though totally
backfires as Marsha has now totally lost trust not only into them but into
youth altogether, feeling totally abused because she hadn't put the condition
of only renting the flat to a couple into the ad in the first place, someone
(Ricky Gervais) just mixed something up at the newspaper. & while she
rushes off to god-knows-what off-licence, all the other guests at Daisy's
birthday celebration are pretty much miffed at each other - Brian & Twist
(Mark Heap, Katy Carmichael) because they have just split up, Mike (Nick Frost)
because Tim spends too much time with Sophie, & Daisy because she has
turned 26 - & they soon start a food fight. In the end however, Tim &
Daisy realize they have to (& will) face whatever comes next together. Quite
entertaining, but a far cry from the best Spaced episodes (of season 1).
