It has finally happened, the dead have risen from their graves - but they don't eat the living, they're just a bit of a nuisance, which is why Coleman Industries has made it its business model to remove the dearly departed for good. But there are those who aren't ok with big corporations making all the money for services pretty much anyone can provide, people like Freddy (Derek Johns), Karl (Alexandre Nachi) and Karl's sister Maggie (Megan Peta Hill) - so Maggie routinely hacks into Coleman's computer system and Karl and Freddy do the pickup - and on the backside of things they also sell the corpses to artist Otto Maddox (Stéphane Demers). Thing is, the Coleman operatives (Patrick Abellard, Marc-André Boulanger) whose assignments they steal aren't very happy about our heroes' exploits, so they kidnap Karl and Maggie's granny (Clare Coulter) to hold for ransom. And granny quite enjoying the experience is besides the point here as our heroes sscramble to find the money, and ultimately come up with a scheme to provide Otto Maddox with the dead body of a movie star - whose body is untortunately quite decomposed, so they try to sell Maddox a live prostitute lookalike (Rosemarie Sabor) instead - a plan stupid enough it just might work ... if it wasn't for a Coleman employee gone rogue (Benz Antoine) who has had the bright idea to turn the zombies into flesheaters after all ...

I will admit, narratively We Are Zombies overshoots at times and tries to pack way too much into its mere 80 minutes of running time - but it's still an absolute joy to watch, and much of this is down to its three protagonists that are, in all their fallability, extremely well-written and come across as utterly relatable, which also helps to make the not always very high brow humour work. And that said, much respect too for the three leads bringing their characters to life so very nicely, and they're supported by a very competent ensemble, too. So in all, this is just an utterly hilarious genre experience.
