You originally started as a producer of horror films did you not?

Yes, I did. I started the company (Doorway Productions) with a "cross between focus" of Horror and Eroticism.

What were some of your releases and the plots?

When I was involved with Doorway Productions, I had about 13 erotic/horror releases such as: Horror Hotties, Creepy Clips, Island of Torture, and of course Goth Girls. All of them were a blend of horror and soft-core features.

The only exception to any of the past productions that I had "direct involvement" in was Island of Torture. That feature is more horror and gore based than soft-core.

What is the company web page URL?

The company's URL was taken down when I decided to move on to other endeavors... The "New" URL (created by Veronica Blake [Veronica Blake interview - click here]) was experimented with under the name of DoorwayProductionsStudio.com

It was also taken down when it became apparent that Doorway Productions "New" titles were generating revenue and attention even without the website.

You recently made a shift to outright hardcore pictures?

This is a great question for me to explain things! I made a suggestion to the new "crew" of Doorway Productions to transform all new material into the Adult Entertainment Industry. My suggestion was based on the fact, that the original Doorway Productions films had already been released into the Adult market where they were doing quite well anyway.

I, Josh Maldonado have actually left Doorway Productions and given the studio over to Veronica Blake, and my cousin Joss Tarnez [Joss Tarnez interview - click here].

Why this decision?

Another great question! The decision was ultimately up to Veroica and Joss. Both of them were enthusiastic and seemed open to my suggestion.

How successful has the change been?

In less than a year, after they started the "new" Doorway Productions, they already have several new titles available on the market. They both have pursued into additional Adult Entertainment such as Cam modeling, and both of them (along with the other cast) have more fans in that short of a time than I ever had in eight years.

God Bless them!

What have some of your recent releases been?

Some of the new titles have been Whore Asylum (2010), Gothique (2011), Adult Drive-In Double Feature (2011) and the successful Michelle (2011). I know that Floor Show and Bend Over and Spread 'Em are two new films currently in production for 2012.

So to an extent you still use a horror backdrop, but with a hardcore theme?

A lot of the New films do have a Horror / Thriller feel to them, yes.

Rather than using established actors or actresses in the porn industry you have tried to develop your own?

Well, both Veronica and Joss had worked with me on some "Non-Adult" material in the past. However, I did not know that both of them already had a little bit of ties already in the Adult Industry. So, I don't really know how to answer this one (laughing) - but I do know, that both of them would prefer to be classed under "Amateur" content in the industry. And in turn, would prefer using "unknown" or other "amateur" talent in their productions.

Again, how well has this worked?

The decision to re-vamp Doorway Productions, merging fully into Adult Entertainment was welcomed with open arms by Adult markets.

What about future productions?

From my understanding Verocica has already planned two new releases for 2012, and will be putting a lot of focus on Camming which they described as a Live Theater / Video interaction with fans and clients.

Who are some of the new faces you have tried to push in your present or upcoming films?

Phoenix is a Native American hottie with an erotic flare all of her own, Joss Tarnez is a hot half Puerto Rican Transsexual with a charming personality. Other cast members so far include people that have little or no previous acting experience such as The Junkman, Tony Tarnez, Cassie, and Shane Kimple. One familiar face though is Shawn Titus from  Island of Torture. As well as some behind the scenes originals like Nick "Bomba" Tallo (for Photos), Angel Santiago (Producer), and Cecil V. (production assistant).

What might separate these people from the scores of others out there?

(Speaking on the two that I know quite well) There are two things that could potentially set Veronica Blake [Veronica Blake interview - click here] and Joss Tarnez [Joss Tarnez interview - click here] apart from a lot of other talent in the industry, especially the Adult Industry:

1) I know that they make their living from this, but neither of them are as concerned about "The Almighty Dollar", as they are about interacting with fans and making them happy.

2) Neither of them are in any sort of competition with any other Talent, Studio, Production Company, etc... Although I have said something about this to both of them, they are doing what they want, and as I said in a previous question... They are more successful in a shorter time than I was in doing this line of work for eight years.

How well set are you on distributorship?

I know that most of the film focus is on Pay-Per View, VOD, and Downloads. I don't think that the Studio would be opposed to additional distributors marketing their titles. After all, I had titles out in retail and rental stores for quite some time, and did quite well with my past releases.

Any interesting tales or ventures you might like to talk about in the course of your career?

Nothing particularly comes to mind. I have had a great run with the past films that I have done, and I am glad to see that the new staff has decided to take the company further, in another direction.

Did you study film somewhere or learn as your went along?

I started as a musician in the 90's. When my music found it's way into some softcore Vampire videos, I began to take notes from the Producers. I attended broadcasting school for a while, and ended up freelancing out of ABC while I interned. Anybody can pick up a video camera and call themselves a "Director" - but in reality, you really should learn how to at least manually focus your camera, before you take that title.

Any favorite actresses or actors when growing up you recall watching in the horror industries?

Absolutely! Vincent Price [Vincent Price bio - click here], Elvira, Bruce Campbell, and Tom Atkins were some of them. As far as creators go my all time favorite is still Rod Serling.

Any closing comments?

I would just like to thank all the people that's helped me in the past... God Bless!
