Your new movie The Pact - in a few words, what is it about, and what can you tell us about your character in it?

Ahhh now this is a secret I will take to the grave ... or at least until the premier. My lips are sealed!

What did you draw upon to bring your character to life, and how much Lucy Oke can we find in her?

I have lived in a similar situation before, so it wasn't too hard to bring Evie to life. Her frustrations, emotions - she's a lot like me in many ways. A good friend with a small circle.

How did you get involved with the project in the first place?

Like many amazing projects I have been involved in, I was asked to join this project after my insistent pestering :D ... in reality, I have known director Paul Sutton [Paul Sutton interview - click here] and producer Chris Dudley [Chris Dudley interview - click here] for years and was super excited when they announced this was being filmed. It was the perfect example of right place, right time.

What can you tell us about The Pact's director Paul Sutton, and what was your collaboration like?

Paul is a secret evil villain with the most incredible underground lair. He has this fantastic masterplan where he ... what?? ... oh, you don't want ... ok ...

Eh-hem, ignore that! I have worked with Paul for years and I find his talent and enthusiasm so invigorating. He has such an upbeat 'make it happen' attitude, and this absolutely spills through into his directing. He makes you feel so at ease on set and encourages you to make the character your own.

Any future projects you'd like to share?

Nothing in the pipeline at the minute acting-wise, but I will be (hopefully) donning the stage next year competing in bodybuilding. My main focus is on everything that goes with that at the minute.

What got you into acting in the first place, and did you receive any formal training on the subject?

I was always a performer from a very young age. I've acted in many pantos, musicals, plays, sketches and horror attractions. I have a HND in Musical Theatre. At college I concentrated a lot on backstage and learned a lot of new skills. That took me to working as a casual technician and runner at several theatres and finally to Butlins, where after a season back stage I became a Redcoat (a real Hi-De-Hi story). I have worked in several holiday parks as an entertainer, then finally settled up north in a touring 70s show band. From stage I merged into radio being the breakfast presenter for a community radio station, then drive time for a commercial radio station. I was also a writer and senior show producer for a major scare attractions company - which incidentally, is where I met Paul.

What can you tell us about your filmwork prior to The Pact?

Although I have lots of stage work under my belt, this is my first time on film.

How would you describe yourself as an actress, and some of your techniques to bring your characters to life?

I like to think I'm quite a versatile actress. I like to stretch my ambition and always like to challenge myself.

Actresses (and indeed actors) who inspire you?

Growing up, and even now, my focus has always been on character actors. They have such a range and are totally overlooked. Steven Buscemi comes to mind. He has a massive filmography but wasn't noticed by many people until Boardwalk Empire. I loved Martin Short when I was growing up. The great Tim Curry. The late Victoria Wood. Julie Walters.

Your favourite movies?

Many people think that Harry Potter is my favourite movie franchise, when in fact it's Jurassic Park!! I am a massive Harry Potter fan too though. Labyrinth has got to me my all time favourite movie though. Unfortunately no one will watch it with me as I will recite it word for word heehee.

... and of course, films you really deplore?

Hummm good question. No, I don't think there is. Unless the dog dies of course - those films can go on the list ... Eight Below :(

Your website, social media, whatever else?

Anything else you're dying to mention and I have merely forgotten to ask?

I think I've waffled on for long enough. Just super excited about this project and I am incredibly proud to be part of it.

Thanks for the interview!
