Ash (Bruce Campbell) drops off Ruby (Lucy Lawless) with Pablo (Ray
Santiago) as her guard at his dad's (Lee Majors) - with dad being less
than happy about it, since he's expecting a date (Carmen Duncan) -, while
Ash and Kelly (Dana DeLorenzo) go back to the morgue because Ruby has
hidden the Necronomicon in one of the corpses. Now Ash, never one big on
subtlety, takes his chainsaw to all the fresh corpses to open them up
until he finds the book. But unfortunately the corpse containing the book
comes back to life and attacks Ash, using its entrails to drag Ash into
its ass. So naturally, chaos ensues. And then Ash learns that his dad's
date actually has died and escaped the morgue - so naturally, chaos ensues
at dad's place as well, and while Ash does his best to take care of
everything, his car gets stolen, and the Necronomicon with it ...
Your (for this series) typical mix of blood and guts, terror and
comedy, slapstick and over-the-top, intentionally ill-places 80s style
action movie machismo - and I'm not at all complaining, it's all well put
together and makes a good job playing the series' inherent strengths,
carried by an ensemble who seems to fall together better with each
episode. So in short, great fun!
