When Blake (Gareth Thomas) & crew - Jenny (Sally Knyvette), Avon
(Paul Darrow), Gan (David Jackson), Cally (Jan Chappell) & Vila
(Michael Keating) - try to not only blow up one of the federation's
communications-complexes but also steal a deciphering machine so
they can listen in on federation communications whenever they want to,
their mission is a full success - apart fromt he fact that they mislay
Cally. The federation meanwhile has recoginzed Blake as the threat he
is & ordered supreme commander Servalan (Jacqueline Pearce) to take care
of that business, who in turn hires ruthless & bloodthirsty space
commander Travis (Stephen Greif) to deal with Blake - & the history
of Blake & Travis goes back quite some time, as Travis was the man
who brought down Blake back in the days when he was leader of the
opposition by trapping him into his own trap simply by the fact that he
was there first & outwaited Blake. & of course, Travis soon
learns about the whereabouts of Cally, has her brought to him, &
holds her hostage, nicely setting up a trap for Blake ... But this
time, Blake, having learned from Travis, has been there first & simply
outwaited Travis - giving him a taste of his own medicine . This way hecan trick him & his troops into believing he is just
arriving when
he has already saved Cally & is back on his ship. Ok
episode about strategic wargames, mainly memorable for being the story
that introduces Blake's arch-enemies Travis & Servalan who would
soon become a mainstay of the series. The action though is rather bad,
& the plottwist that Blake & company had just forgotten Cally after
their assault, does not lend to the story's credibility. |
