A skeleton exits his cave, maybe for the first time ever, and takes in
his surroundings in awe. He wanders the countryside, lost in amazement ...
until he, to his greatest joy, meets another skeleton - a friend, finally
... or so he thought, as it seems not all skeletons feel the same about
one another ... Doppelgänger is an at the same time
darkly funny and utterly charming short: Darkly funny because it manages
to say more about human nature using but skeletons in four minutes than
many films with real people do in 1 and a half hours - and in a very
biting way, too. And utterly charming because of its welcomely old school
approach. The film entirely relies on stop motion and back projection
rather than CGI, was shot on actual film stock, doesn't shy away from the
occasional kitsch element, but is also full of poetic imagery. Nice one,
really.
