Hyun-min (Shin Hyeon-jun) is the specialist for reconstructing faces from
their skulls on the police force, but just at the time when a serial killer who
destroys whole bodies with acid hits town & Hyun-min would be needed most
for the identification of the victims, he has to quit the force out of personal
reasons - his daughter Jin has just had a heart transplantation which caused
some trouble because she's beta-allergic & thus her body will accept
only very special hearts. However, young-&-coming doctor Sun-young (Song
Yun-a) decides to take things into her own hands & comes to Hyun-min's
house with one of the skulls, & since she's a lovely young woman, she soon
has him persuaded to continue his work at home - but not before Hyun-min was
haunted by some visions of a ghost-woman. Meanwhile the police go on with
their own investigations & soon find out that all the victims of the serial
killer were beta-allergic - just like Hyun-min's daughter -, & there is
only one specialist for beta-allergic patients in Korea, doctor Yoon, who has
of course also operated on Jin, & who remains very secretive about where he
has gotten all his hearts from ... ... until he is found hanged, in what
appears to have been suicide (for obvious reasons), but is soon found out to be
murder ... Hyun-min has meanwhile another haunting vision, that leads him to
find another skull, & when he reconstructs that skull as well, it turns out
to be ... Sun-young, who (& that does not come as a real surprise at this
point of the movie) was only a ghost, who wanted her killer punished, & in
the person of Hyun-min, an expert on reconstructing faces, whose daughter has
now her heart, she has found the ideal person to get the killer, who is
actually Kim Han-suk, one of her colleagues at medical school, who has actually
killed her - also a beta-allergic - because he was so touched by seeing
Hyun-min crying over his daughter, & decided the girl deserves the heart
more than Sun-young. It all ends in a finale with Hyun-min tied to Han-suk's
operating table & about to be killed, but both the police & the ghost
of Sun-young can stop Han-suk, & instead he falls into his own acid-tub. Rather
disappointing spooker, that is at no point really haunting beyond showing the
by now well-known images of a female ghost with her long hair falling down in
front of her face, & all the plottwists & surprise revelations are very
easy to guess & announce themselves way before their actual occurence.
& the killer really could have been anybody & is rather pulled out of
the hat at the end.
