Somewhere in the middle or nowhere, Canada: While Adam (Guillaume Cyr)
does his best to lead a straight and narrow life, and has even be voted
fire chief of the community he lives in, his brother Anthony is a bit of a
loose cannon, drinking and partying too much, and not being known for
holding down a job. Adam meanwhile works at his father's (Luc Picard) and
grandfather's (Julien Poulin) garage - not a particularly profitable
business, especially now that habrids and e-cars demand a different kind
of attention, but something solid still ... especially since the family
business has always relied on quite a bit of poaching on the side -
well, mainly poaching to be quite honest.
Enter Emily (Karine Vanasse), the town's new radio DJ, who soon enough
gets friendly enough with both Adam and, Anthony and whom the town comes
to love as a fixture on the airwaves - but that said, she might have
motives of her own not in line with either of the brothers ...
Without aiming to be judgmental, I'm rather sure that the
world of hunting and poaching is rather alien to most of my readers - and
that's the very accomplishment of this movie, that it manages to
successfully introduce its audience into a world very, to put it slightly,
odd to them, and create a very engaging story around it, a story with
quite some depth that goes beyond good-bad dichonomy. And a solid cast and
subtle directo9rial effort sure help to makie this work as well as it
does.
