For the past 10 years, Braden Vasco (Steve Baran) has been the most
dependable footsoldier of drug kingpin Stavros Zane (Thomas Newman) - and
suddenly Stavros has to find out Braden's an undercover cop. Of course, he
does what any good villain would to: Find out Braden's family to torture
and kill them, record everything on a phone, and show it to Braden before
torturing and killing him as well. Only Braden, despite seeing everyone he
has ever loved being slaughtered, doesn't go down willingly, and he's
skilled enough to turn a dead end situation in his favour and shoot it out
with Stavros' gang. But it's once Braden has fought himself out of
Stavros' lair, he has to come to the cruel conclusion that somebody on the
force (on his side) must have betrayed him - and understandably, Braden
wants revenge for the death of his family ... Five Minute
Rush is a very effective genre short, one that does away with most
narrative frills and goes to the jugular pretty quickly, thus telling its
story that could have easily filled a feature film at breakneck speed,
leaving the audience with scarcely enough time to breathe in the process.
That it still hits a chord with the audience isn't thanks to its pace
though but to its well-structured script, a directorial effort with an eye
for the vital, and a really well put-together action sequence as the
film's centerpiece. Well worth a look for sure! ... and if
this has at all gotten you fired up, you might as well want to watch the
