Mandy (Samantha Janus) is found out by the debt collector, since she owes about
9.000 Pounds to various credit card companies. She is devastated, but her
roommate Marty (Matthew Cottle) promises to help her out as he has saved about
5 grands for a uture for him & Clare, his ex who broke up with him ages ago
(not that he would yet be over it). But then Marty meets Clare & she asks
if he could lend her some money ... which he does in hopes to some day get back
together with her - despite the fact that she still refuses to see him again
... & this of course leaves him without money to lend to Mandy.
It's right at that time her agoraphobic & abusive flatmate/landlord Matt
(Neil Stuke) remembers he wants to collect the last six months' rent from her -
but might let her off if she gives him a good shag ... to which she agrees too,
but manages to make such an ass out of him that he blows the whole thing off
... however, he sends the debt collector to Mandy's workplace ... where her
boss, Archie (Crispin Bonham-Carter), a rich but shy son who would much rather
be a pigfarmer, pays her debts as if it was nothing ... & out of joy, she
kisses him - which makes him immediately falling in love with her ...
& the rent - from her share in the Clare box - in which Marty has to pay
50 p every time he mentions her - Mandy can pay Matt in full ... & all in
50 p coins ...
By & large ignoring the developments of Game On's season 2
concerning Matthew - both his latent homosexuality & his almost normal
relationship to a girl that even cures his agoraphobia -, season 3 picks up the
ball at a convenient point & goes to the core of the story again, telling a
tale of 3 sad people leading sad lives - in an amazingly funny way.
Crispin Bonham-Carter's performance as the series' new regular is also
extremely amusing.
