Without any warning, Ali is gone, leaving his girlfriend Jeren (Gizem
Aybike Sahin) behind literally in tears, as she thinks he has taken off
after a row, and she shouldn't have pressed him quite as hard when it came
to their wedding. Ali and Jeren's best friend Mert (Deniz Aslim) thinks
differently though, as he has received a text from Ali saying "Find
me!" just prior to learning he's gone. Without too much of an
actual clue, Mert follows Ali's muddled trail, which eventually leads him
into the woods, where he meets a lovely girl (Jehavir Jashgir), who claims
this stretch of land hers and claims to never leave here anymore to get in
touch with society as such, having been pushed under the wheels by others
a few too many times. Mert can sympathize, and it's not long before the
two of them fall in love. However, there's more to the mysterious girl in
the woods than meets the eye - and not all of it is pleasant ... The
Girl in the Woods is a creepy little mystery that does manage in
keeping one guessing throughout and that plants its main shock where you'd
least expect it (but where it makes the most sense mind you), to then pack
a punch with a coda that might not be totally unexpected but is powerful
still. And since all of this is carried by a very unexcited directorial
effort and very compact performances, the whole thing works like a charm.
