A man (Andre Herzegovitch) wakes up and finds himself eye to eye with
Death (Nileja James), and Death informs him he has been shot between the
eyes by one of two women, either his wife (Karah Serine) or his daughter
(Sarah O'Sullivan), and if he finds out which in 6 minutes 66, he shall
live, otherwise perish. All he needs to do is listen to them carefully,
and he'll find the truth. Listen he does, but he doesn't like what he
hears, his wife's vapid and empty comments about the weather only show her
contempt for him, and his daughters forced assurances that she likes to
have sex with him speak volumes in themselves ... Hello, My
Name is Death is a very disturbing film that, despite the plot as such
being about just that, isn't about giving answers but looking into the
muddled soul of his protagonist, and despite being reduced to one
featureless room and a streetcorner, location-wise, and empty on actual
action, it comes across as very powerful in delivering the goods, thanks
to good writing, a subtle directorial effort and a capable cast.
Definitely worth a look - but be warned, this is not a feel-good movie!
