Back in the olden days, a peaceful farmer (James Stokes) was hanged by
a couple of outlaws (Lee Vervoort, Cindy Maples), but not before he swore
bloody revenge should they as much as touch his family - but of course,
the outlaws kill them as well. In the now, the area where this happened
has become known as "Hell's Half Acre", and it has come to
notoriety as people tend to disappear there. The local lawmen don't touch
the neighbourhood, but the new Sheriff (Matt Green) who learned his trade
in the brutal streets of Chicago, decides to check it out. At the same
time, a trio of paranormal investigators (Andy
Grace, Shannon
Stockin, Alonzo
Pennington) have become fascinated by the legend of Hell's Half Acre and
thus decide to stop by. Problem is, the peaceful farmer from back in the
day is still around - but now he isn't peaceful anymore but an undead
avenging angel ... Hell's Half Acre is a likeable little
piece of horror that doesn't exactly try to be Citizen Kane, but it
manages to spin its little yarn in an original and entertaining way, and
thus enriches the basic simple slasher premise with elements that make a
more interesting story - with a fun surprise ending, too!
