Sarah (Kelly Figley) lives in a nice house in the middle of nowhere,
and beign all alone kind of freaks her out a bit, especially since she has
only recently found out she's pregnant. Desperately, she tries to call her
husband (Alex Westrick) again and again, but he just won't answer - but
will send her flowers and stuff all the same just to let her know he's the
perfect partner. But that doesn't help Sarah much, as she soon starts to
hear voices, see intruders, and get glimpses of her hubby back home - and
while this might be all in her head, it also still might to lead to
something quite evil ... Hinterland is a very effective
and very cleverly written suspense piece, a short that manages to build up
tension quickly and then never let go while telling a nicely twisting
story with very little action, and even if the ending might not be the
surprise the filmmakers hoped it to be for those who are genre savvy, it
still strikes a supremely creepy chord. And Kelly Figley in the lead
really manages to carry the movie and make her character and her emotions
palpable to the viewer. Definitely worth a look!
