Motorcycle courier Noddy (Neil Morrissey) buys himself a new bike, much
to the dismay of his girlfriend Kim (Amanda Noar) - and when he wants to
take it for a spin and it simply won't start, it seems to prove Kim right.
But then the motorcycle gets a taste of Noddy's mechanic Cleaver's
(Michael Elphick) blood, and suddenly it runs like a dream ... because
what nobody knew, after a gang of Hell's Andels botched up a Satanic
ritual, the bike has been possessed by a vampiric demon, and obviously now
it's out for blood. And that night, the bike kills Cleaver ... A few
days, later, Noddy passes above-mentioned Hell's Angels on his bike - and
the bike goes berserk, driving many of them to the ground - and from here
on, Noddy's high on the hit list of the Angels, which isn't a place where
anyone would like to be. Without Noddy's knowledge though, the bike goes
on nightly strolls to track down and kill the Angels one by one. It
starts to dawn on Noddy there's something wrong with the bike when it
hospitalizes Kim, and the fact that there's always blood in its tank
doesn't seem too right either, so eventually he calls upon a priest
(Anthony Daniels) to exorcise the evil demon out of the bike, but the
exorcism only makes the bike all the more angry, so much so that it grows
spikes, goes berserk in town, and eventually even breaks into the hospital
Kim's at. Noddy and the priest are hot on the bike's trail, but once
they've caught up, will they even know what to do? I Bought
a Vampire Motorcycle is quite simply one of the most awesome titles
for a horror movie, as it promises so much - in fact much more than any
film can deliver, and consequently this movie falls short of its promise,
it's not nearly as wild and off the hook as it could have been, and
especially the motorcycle in attack mode looks ridiculous rather than
scary. That said, not living up to its title aside, I Bought a Vampire
Motorcycle is actually a fun ride, a low budget horror steeped in blue
collar British humour, with a intentionally silly story, some pretty
decent effects work, a few fittingly over-the-top performances, and a
likeable loser in the lead. Not a great film, but a cool way to spend
approximately 100 minutes, preferably accompanied by beer of course.
