The Shirunai Clan led by Taro (Shinzo Hotta) wants to take over the
world, using (what else, this is Japanese kiddie-sci-fi TV) giant robots.
However, there is one man standing in their way: Gentaro (Shoji
Ishibashi), an agent for Professor Tsushima, who is not only a good
fighter and cunning to the hilt, he also has a guardian angel ... Iron
King, a - you guessed it - giant robot.
This time around, the Shirunai Clan attacks Gentaro with Vacuummirror,
a robot with a giant hand that can also be used as a vacuum (and in one
scene it sucks up an entire train) which is remote controlled by an old
hag, but as Gentaro gets in a tight spot, Iron King shows up seemingly out
of nowhere and chases Vacuummirror away. Gentaro is soon joined by two
strangers he meets on the way, Yukiko (Chieko Morikawa), a guitar carrying
girl he soon falls in love with, and very clumsy Goro (Mitsuo Hamada), who
turns out to be an agent of Professor Tsushima as well, and who really is
Iron King (which only the audience learns of course), but whose klutziness
soon gets on Gentaro's nerves.
The finale of course features a rematch of Iron King and Vacuummirror
which is ended when Gentaro finds out an old woman is trying to save is
actually the old hag controlling Vacuummirror, and he teaches her - who
soon turns into a Shirunai Clan-fighter - a lesson or two ...
Childish to the hilt of course, but if you (like me) love giant robots
roaming the countryside and fighting each other, you might as well be
entertained by this one. Otherwise, don't even bother watching it ...
