Bertie Wooster (Hugh Laurie) is to play his rival Barmy (Adam
Blackwood) in a golf tournament, but this time it isn't jsut about the
honour but also a fight to impress Bobbie (Nina Botting), Bertie's newest
love interest who seems to be interested in Barmy as well though. His
valet Jeeves disapproves of Bobbie though, and he is right, as Bobbie
persuades both Bertie and Barmy to play the same trick on each other,
puncture the waterbottle of the respective other while he's sleeping.
Jeeves though gets wind of it and sees to it that the trick backfires on
both of them - with the result of Bertie falling out of love with Bobbie.
This doesn't keep Bertie from offering her his appartment to hold a
dinnerparty though - with Bertie not present. And during the dinnerparty,
she gives the dog or Bertie's aunt Agatha (Mary Wimbush) away - and Bertie
has all sorts of problems to get it back, just before aunt Agatha arrives.
Finally, it's the story of Tuppy (Robert Daws), who's in love with Cora
(Constance Novis), a professional singer whom aunt Agatha disapproves of
and asks Bertie to do something about it - but the rather lightheaded
Bertie has no idea what. Step in Jeeves again, who tells her that Tuppy
has requested her to sing Sunny Boy at a social function - and then
has everybody else before her sing Sunny Boy as well, so as a
result her performance ends in desaster ...
The plot of this episode is rather childish, and the direction is dull
and stagey at best, but the two leads supported by a great ensemble cast
make this one worthwhile after all, a nice piece of old-fashioned comedy.
