The Jones (Sheri Davis, Lance Eakright) are your typical perfect
suburban couple who love noone more than their daughter Chloe (Gracie
Whitton) - but of late, Chloe feels a little under the weather ... or so
the Jones like to put it, actually it's much worse than that, because
slowly Chloe is turning ... into a human - which wouldn't be so bad if the
Jones weren't zombies living in a zombie-only neighbourhood, and zombies
eat humans, that's a fact. Now it's not as if the Jones would ever eat
their little Chloe, human or not, but some of the neighbours might see her
as more of a snack than anything else ... The Jones is a
movie that has taken quite a bit of a risk ... and succeeded: Basically,
the whole 9 minute short is based on one joke and one joke only, zombies
having a human kid - but the way the story is structured around this is
what makes the film work: It doesn't go for cheap jokes let alone
gross-out horror, or stupid exaggerations, but tells its story with an
emphasis on atmosphere and dares to give it some heart, too. And add to
that a very decent ensemble cast who don't overdo their zombie-isms but
take their rather ridiculous roles seriously, and you've got yourself a
very entertaining and unusual piece of zombie cinema.
