In the capital, Chancellor Cho (Ryu Seung-ryong) is getting impatient
as his daughter, the Queen, has still not given birth to a successor for
the throne, and if she doesn't before the Emperor dies for good, the
throne will go to his son out of wedlock, Crown Prince Chang (Ju Ji-Hoon)
- and Cho doesn't know how long he can keep the Emperor alive in his
zombified condition. But the Queen has a secret of her own, she isn't
really pregnant but has a stable of pregnant women, hope for one of them
to give birth to a boy soon she can use for the power grab. Meanwhile a
battalion of Cho's soldiers has managed to track down the Crown Prince in
order to eliminate him, but he's under the protection of General Ahn,
whose soldiers eliminate the battalion instead. Chang then takes control
of the city Sangju, ordering to open its gates for the refugees from the
zombie infestation, as the city is for yet zombie-free and easy to defend.
But what he doesn't know, enemy agents are already at work to let a zombie
loose on the populace from within ... I have to say, this
season finale of the otherwise excellent series is rather a letdown, as it
resolves exactly nothing but only works towards a cliffhanger ending. Sure
the cliffhanger is good enough to make one want to keep on watching, but
one would have hoped for at least some of the narrative threads to come to
an end rather than opening new ones. Also, the episodes lacks the
excitement of earlier ones as it's almost free of any actual setpieces ...
and even largely devoid of zombies. That said, in all, it's really not bad
at all on its own terms, it just doesn't meet up to expectations - but has
one want to keep on watching nevertheless. As of this writing though
(March 2019), there aren't any more episodes out ...
