Elin and Tobias' marriage hasn't been the same ever since the somewhat
bizarre death of their daughter, that might have had something to do with
a music box playing the popular children's song Koko-di Koko-da.
Now they're trying to take a camping vacation to fix their relationship,
but they start to bicker even on their way to the location, then lose
their way, and camp in the wild - much to Elin's annoyance. Then in the
middle of the night, Elin has to pee, goes into the woods, comes across a
trio of strangers with a song, Koko-di Koko-da, on their lips, and
with a fierce dog - who beat her to death, then let the dog loose inside
Tobias' tent to take care of him as well, and ... Elin and Tobias go on
a camping trip, bicker, lose their way, camp in the wild, in the midle of
the night, Elin has to be - and Tobias begs her to not go out as he
remembers something ... then they hear someone singing Koko-di Koko-da,
and before long they are attacked by the three strangers and the dog ... This
repeats itself numerous times, and Tobias, who other than Elin remembers,
gets crazier every time she mentions she has to pee, but no matter how
hard he tries to evade the strangers, they always seem to gain the upper
hand ... Ok, it's a bit obvious that this movie re-uses Groundhog
Day's temporal loop premise - but here's where the similarities end
already, because Koko-di Koko-da is basically a film of the
"what the fuck just happened" variety as it creates a logic, a
symbolism, a world all of its own which doesn't always make sense within
the context of our own reality - and that's what makes the film so
wonderful, it's a bundle of utter weirdness freely combining elements of
horror, fairy tale, surrealism, and whatnot - but if you're open minded it
will keep you well entertained and at the edge of your seat throughout,
and is just totally worth a look!
