Riley (Lisa Datz), a woman with trust issues stemming from her
traumatic past, couldn't be happier with her boyfriend Juan Carlos (Sercio
Carlo), a successful architect with an immigration background. so when she
catches him in a lie, she has all sorts of suspiciions, but doesn't
confront him right away but confides into her best friend Danielle (Dionne
Gipson). Later, the lie turns out to have been a little white lie as
innocent as they come and to the most romantic of ends. Thing is, confiding
into Danielle leads to an avalanche of catastrophic events ... A
quite unique little film as it combines elements of a classic (romantic)
comedy of errors with very modern themes like (often unconscious)
cultural, racial and immigration issues, told in a light-footed way that's
nevertheless steeped in realism, and moving along at a pace that's
guaranteed to keep one engaged without forgetting its underlying, more
serious themes, at the end driving its message home in a very entertaining
and never heavy-handed way. And that the racially and culturally diverse
cast really live up to their roles really help making this one enjoyable
yet very intelligent short.
