Of late, Lizzie's (Charlotte Gould) life has become a total mess, as
she tries to juggle her fledgling relationship with Ben (Tom Coulston)
with her fledgling career as a dominatrix for hire, and her open animosity
towards her mother (Kathy Griffiths)) with her desire to finally meet her
father (Alan Austen) - with the latter actually leading to Lizzie breaking
into her mother's home. A higher than usual sex drive doesn't really help
Lizzie's situation much, and on top of all that, out of nowhere her best
friend Daisy (Renée Eskildsen) confesses she has long fancied her ... Above
all else, Lizziehead is lots of fun. It's a bit of a slice-of-life
movie - if life was pretty crazy. And for that, Lizziehead borrows
from lots of genres not usually seen together, like horror and rom-com,
soap opera and sex comedy. But a clever script sees that things never
actually go off the rail and the very heterogenous story elements still
carry the story rather than themselves. And Charlotte Gould's central
performace, supported by an able ensemble, really carries the film, making
this a fun watch.
