A nameless man (Phil Stevens) stumbles through a city and finds
distorted corpses and severed bodyparts, some fresh, some pretty decayed,
pretty much everywhere he lays his eyes on - and this confuses him more
than it actually disturbs him, so he makes attempt after attempt to reach
his psychiatrist (David Chopping), but he seems less than interested in
the man's case. Thing is, the man has also horrible visions of murders
he's committing - but are these hallucinations, memories or premonitions?
Eventually the man enters a house that's just macabre from top to bottom
(the highlight being a being made up from sexual organs that actually
seems to live in the fridge) and that might just be the scene of the crime
from the man's visions ... Now a synopsis can't even begin to
do justice to Lung II, that might be rather vague on the narrative
side, leaves the audience intentionally in the dark, and uses associative
storytelling and the logic of a nightmare rather than a classic narrative
structure - all of which works amazingly well thanks to really strong and
macabre imagery, grotesque details that are sure to disturb the audience,
and also compelling performances. That said, the film is probably not for
everyone, it doesn't shy away from gruesome bits and really tries to suck
one into its lead character's nightmare world - but if you're up for this,
you're bound to love the movie!
