Azu (Neus Asensi) is married to Felipe (Antonio Resines), who is the rich landlord of all her (poor) friends, but who is also a big arsehole, always threatening to raise the rents or to throw his tenants/hzer friends out. So Azu has found two refuges, one is that she talks to the tv & thinks the tv talks back, the other is an affair with next-door neighbour Pablo (Carlos Lozano), incidently an employee of her husband. But at some point the affair gets too hot for Pablo, who fears to lose his job when the affair comes out - & so he breaks up with her.

Now Azu knows just one way out: to kill her husband ! Unable to do it herself, she persuades butcher Quique (Pere Ponce), whom her husband has justz thrown out of his store, to either do it for her or to hire someone ... & Quique hires his own retardedassistant Lalo (Karra Elejalde) to do the dirty work for them. Somehow, Azu also drags her sister Isabel (Nathalie Sesena) into the whole affair, & in the end Azu, Isabel, Quique & Lalo all help killing Felipe, then drag him into his car & set it on fire so it looks like an accident.

The police however soon finds out that it wasn't an accident at all, but that Felipe's throat was slit before his car went on fire, but since the investigating officer Anselmo (Saturnino García) is a close friend of Azu's, he doesn't even suspect her.

There's only Azu's neighbour La Santa Dona Rosi (Mariví Bilbao), who has seen the whole thing & might blow the whistle on her, but she prefers to have her silence bought, & later Lalo, trying to rape her, even kills her (by accident) ...

Only bad thing about the murder, Pablo doesn't come back to Azu, in fact he finally admits that he really is married & has his wife Lola (Inma del Moral) moving in with him. So cold-bloodedly, Azu tosses Lola out a window, then she tries to get back together with Pablo ... who grows disgusted of the psycho bitch whom he had an affair with once.

Then though, Isabel makes the fatal mistake of telling the whole thing to her husband Manolo (Juan Inciarte), who surprisingly is not quite as understanding as she would have expected, but immediately goes to the police ... & Azu after him, & she catches up with him right in front of the precinct & shoots him dead - a murder which she really can't wriggle out no more ...

3 years later: Azu has spent her time in prison, but now the prison psychologist (Mónica Naranjo) considers her cured & decides to release her into the care of her sister Isabel & Isabel's new husband, cop Anselmo. Of course, Azu is still the psycho bitch she once was, only now she knows how to hide it better, & once outside, she immediately thinks Isabel & Anselmo are only after her (late husband's) money - which might even be true).

At the first opportunity she hooks up with Lalo again, to try to persuade him to kill her sister & brother -in-law. Unfortunately though, Lalo has picked up the habit to rape women once left alone with them, & when Azu puts up a struggle, he (rather accidently) kills her ...

Marujas Asesinas might not be a masterpiece, but among the many serialkiller movies that always tell the same story, it is a dark comedy take on the subject, wonderfully amoral & mean, & wickedly presenting the audience with a psycho bitch - greatly portrayed by Neus Asensi actually - as the protagonist ... & it works, too.

As I said, not a masterpiece, but a fun ride indeed.
