It's Zoe's (Rebecca Chan) 6th birthday, and she can't await lunch and
meet her always absent mommy (Tina Jung) - so she wakes up her dad (Simu
Liu) a quarter to eight and eggs him on to make lunch - and he let's her
persuade him, as he, too, is anxious to see mommy again - even if it's not
quite the way one would expect ... Ok, one thing up front, when
watching this, keep a box of cleenex ready, you will need them! That's not
to say the film's cheesy as heck, because it isn't - given the film is
about a kid and some very "big" themes, it's actually incredibly
subtle - but the story is just too touching for your eyes not to water,
and told and directed in such a loving way that it finds its way to your
heart. And of course, that the whole cast is up to the task - and special
praise goes out to little Rebecca Chan here for acting beyond her age -
doesn't hurt one bit either. So all I can say, watch it, but make sure
about your cleenex supply first!
