Grandpa Munster (Al Lewis) has invented a pill that can turn water into
gasoline - and wants to sell it to the Reliable Oil Company. At the
same time, cousin Marilyn's (Beverley Owen) suffering from terrible
insomnia and asks Grandpa for a remedy. He accidently gives her the Sleeping
Beauty potion that will have her sleep for 100 years, unless she's
kissed by a prince - this is of course not ideal, so Grandpa is going
through his collection of frogs to see if any turn out to be princes -
without success - while Herman (Fred Gwynne) and Lily (Yvonne De Carlo)
put an ad in the paper ... and wouldn't you know it, two actors (Gavin
MacLeod, John Hoyt) show up to audition what they think is a role in a
play - but when they see Herman carrying up Marilyn from downstairs they
take flight in fright. Then though Dick Prince (Grant Williams),
representative of the Reliable Oil Company shows up, and the
Munsters persuade him, the nearest they got to an actual prince, to kiss
sleeping Marilyn - which he enjoys almost a bit too much, but the kiss is
a success. The sale of the pill on the other hand is less of a success, as
when Grandpa wanted to burn the Sleeping Beauty formula, he
accidently burned the gasoline pill formula instead ... Not for
the first time, the series' regulars show what great chemistry they have
between one another, and they're spot-on with their delivery and have the
ability to really sell even the weaker punchlines, and a rock solid guest
cast sure helps making this a great joy to watch.
