A married couple (Corey Damian Smith, Allison Eir Jenks) live a
boring life, and nothing ever seems to happen ... until one day, the wife
suffers from something that could be an overdose, though she hasn't
overdosed on anything, and she needs to be looked after - and somehow it
seems to have to do with some weird rocks the husband has gathered from
the site where he and his wife had an accident, and about which even two
gouvernment agents (Circus-Szalewski, Gary Sugarman) warn him. In the
end, it turns out that the rocks have actually impregnated the wife ... A
perfect trash plot, done as an experimental film - now that's a concept
that's just bound to fail, and sure enough, The Nest does just
that: The story
is so (consciously) badly written it's next to incomprehensible, the
effects are so wannabe-artsy they seem to have little connection to the
rest of the film (and are by far not as interesting as they are supposed
to be), the direction is simply underwhelming in its attempts to be avant
garde, and the actors lack talent as well as guidance - but worst of all,
the whole film is dead boring, so much so that even when something happens
(which is not a lot of times), nothing seems to be happening at all. A
complete waste of time.
