It's one of these nights where our hero (Roberto Ramon) cannot sleep,
seems to hear noises where there aren't supposed to be any, seems to see
things only in the corner of his eye and the like ... and it comes to the
point where he doesn't want to turn off his light anymore - and when he
ultimately does, the devil (Roberto D'Antona) actually comes to get him.
But that said, our hero might have every reason to be afraid of the dark,
as he hasn't been quite as innocent as he ought to be ... More
than anything else, Nyctophobia is a movie that relies heavily on
atmosphere as well as the moment of surprise and lets one piece together
the story behind the shock in one's head - and thanks to a direction that
pushes all the right buttons regarding mood and effect, and great editing
and sound design, this approach works admirably well!
