After a heist that has gone somewhat wrong, the quintet of men
responsible (Adam Masnyk, Peter Hoey, Kris Salvi, Mike Daniels, Daniel
Washington) hide out in a hotel room, trying to figure out how to get out
of their situation - and of course, tensions between the men are soon
rising, which is not a good thing itself because they're all heavily armed
and about to go off. Then though they hear that they are actually also
blamed for an assassination they had nothing at all to do with, so their
leader, Gator (Adam Masnyk), calls their employer, the Queen (Gloria
Crist), only to learn that she has dropped and betrayed them. That might
be bad enough, but what's worse is they're in the possession of a data
stick the Queen is bound to want - and she's bound to get it back, even if
she leaves a bunch of corpses behind ... A very cool short that
gets the best out of the film's limited locations, and in fact uses that
limitation to create tension - of course coupled with a sharp script and
tight directorial effort. And that the ensemble cast is first rate only
helps to make Odd Men Out into a great little piece of genre
cinema.
