Back when, Detective Jones (Jessie Jones) has saved lovely Phaedra
Stein (Luana Ribeira) from her husband, who has turned out to be a
dangerous serialkiller - but Stein has given the detecitve the slip. And
since then, despite the best of his efforts, Jones couldn't find a trace
of Stein. But now another man (Eddie Bammeke) has been murdered, and with
no other tangible clue, the detective pays another visit to Phaedra. And
it's not that she can help him, but there's a certain attraction between
the two of them, an attraction that seems to go beyond mere gratitude for
saving her on Phaedra's part - and it's not long before they become a
couple, and soon enough, too Jones is tranferred from Homicide to Internal
Affairs, and all seems to point to a happy ending - until it's reported
that Stein has fallen victim to the killer he has been suspected to be ... At
not even 13 minutes in length, this film packs a lot of content into very
little running time - but thanks to a very economic, well-structured
script and a no-nonsense directorial effort the thing doesn't feel
rushed but works as a pretty solid suspense piece that calculatedly
goes off the rails in the third act that's intentionally somewhat open for
interpretation. And a very solid small ensemble make sure that the story
comes to life, making this one worthwhile genre effort.
