Slowly, Sarah (Tatjana Maslany) starts to trust Paul (Dylan Bruce), her
monitor or rather the monitor of her clone Beth whom she used to
impersonate, especially since he's as eager to have some answers regarding
the situation as she is. But then Paul disappears, or rather is taken
captive by his monitor Olivier (David Richmond-Peck), who by now
independently from Paul has found out that Sarah is not Beth, and who
wants to get to the bottom of it - by torturing it out of Paul. Sarah
receives a message from clone-killing clone Helena (also Tatjana Maslany),
who wants to get the names of the other clones from Sarah, promising to
leave her alive in exchange. But Sarah figures it's better to set her onto
Olivier - and later, when Sarah runs into a trap and becomes Olivier's
captive as well, that pays off, as Helena not only frees her and Paul, but
also cuts off Olivier's tail. Ah yeah, Olivier's tail: In fact,
Olivier's in league with neovolutionist Leeky (Matt Frewer), who's
officially promoting for people to choose their own evolution, which means
many of his followers have chosen to have their bodies augmented by tails
or the like. But he has also darker motives, and Sarah's fellow clone
Cosima (Tatjana Maslany again of course) tries to get to the bottom of
this by becoming very friendly with his favourite student (and secret
lover) Delphine, whom Cosima believes to be her own monitor. Meanwhile,
at the police station, Beth's partner Art (Kevin Hanchard) begins to piece
together the evidence of the clone murders which Sarah posing as Beth has
tampered with, and he's slowly getting on Sarah's trail, even if he
doesn't understand the first thing about his findings yet ... After
last
episode was of a lighter tone, this one really puts an emphasis on
tension again and masterfully weaves its net of intrigue further and
further, whetting the audience's appetite, but without forgetting to tell
a story of its own that at least gives some answers. And the Helena clone
is at her creepiest in this one.
