A top secret army station in the everlasting ice of Greenland: After a
failed mission, Major Brothers (Harry Guardino) goes somewhat bonkers and
thinks an alien is attacking the station, and he has to blow the alien up
- and the station with it.
So Major Brothers is sent to the station's psychiatrist Hamilton (Gary
Merrill), who happens to be ingenious enough to having just invented a
machine with which he can enter the minds of his patients - and vice
versa. But when he tries the machine on Brothers, an earthquake causes the
connection of the two minds to break when each of the men is in the body
of the other ... and Brothers, in Hamilton's body has Hamilton in
Brothers' body thrown into the slammer. Then, as the respected Doctor
Hamilton, he persuades some soldiers to explain to him the atomic devices
at the base, in order to blow it up better.
Hamilton meanwhile manages to persuade his assistant Ingrid (Sally
Kellerman) that it is really himm, and she helps him escape from his cell.
Then the two of them use a pretense to lure Brothers back into Hamilton's
lab, and somehow connect him to the mind melting machine. However, before
the exchange of the minds is completed, Brothers as Hamilton shoots the
Brothers body dead ... too bad he is just about to enter this exact same
body and ... dead on arrival.
Hamilton meanwhile, in his own body once again, explains that the alien
Brothers saw was the (imagined) ghost of a comrade whose death Brothers
felt responsible for. Ah yeah, and in the end, Hanmilton gets the girl -
Ingrid that is.
The good news is, this episode is not just another piece of Cold War
propaganda, the bad news is, it's incredibly silly - but not in a good,
fun way.
