College student Felisia has just moved into a new boarding house where
night after night she hears a woman crying in the neighbouring, presumably
unoccupied room. Felisia's landlady though forbids her to open the door to
this room - but after a few days, Felisia does it anyway, and she releases
something, which is eventually revealed to be a pocong (a hopping ghost
tied into its shroud), who scares pretty much everyone shitless and
eventually murders Felisia's landlady, her son and the house's gardener
before anyone can reveal to Felisia what happened to the girl who is now
haunting the house as a pocong. Felisia knows only one thing, to get rid
of the pocong, she must find its grave and remove a certain thread. When
she finds the pocong's grave and touches the girls corpse, she learns the
truth: Marvin, her handsome neighbour Felisia has somehow fallen for, has
killed the girl, who had turned down her advances, some time ago, then
made it look like suicide and tricked the landlady, her son and the
gardener to help him cover up the crime and secretly bury the girl in the
backyard. The pocong brutally kills Marvin just before Felisia is able to
remove the thread and set everything right again. On the plus
side, this film is rather atmospherically directed and does feature a
solid cast, especially for a horror movie. Apart from that though, there
is very little to recommend this movie, as like so many other pocong-movies,
it lacks a proper story, it's just a series of scares that seem repetitive
before very long, and in the end, an ending is pulled out of the hat just
like that. A disappointment given the decent direction and cast.
