Taxi driver Shen Chin (Charlie Chin) drives a woman to the hospital,
but once hearrives there, she's already dead. And as if a corpse in his
cab wasn't bad enough, a group of thugs (led by Jackie Chan) arrives to
beat him up and search his car, claiming they need the woman's purse
(which she has hidden in the car, but well enough for the thugs not to
find it. The next few days, the thugs terrorize Shen Chin to force him to
hand over the purse, which he of course knows nothing about, and they also
use every kind of trick to get their hands on it - without success of
course. Then the dead woman's sister Ho Mei-hu (Yuen Qiu), a police woman,
shows up, and teams up with Shen Chin against the thugs, who soon lead
them to their leader, the city's drug kingpin, but also manage to make
them their captives. However, both Shen Chin and Ho Mei-hu manage to
escape, and with the help of Shen Chin's fellow cabbies, they fight and
defeat the baddies. And in the end, Shen Chin even finds the purse, and in
it enough compromising photos to land the drug kingpin in jail for a
lifetime or two. A cheap action movie/crime drama that's still
readily available these days primarily because it features an early
performance by Jackie Chan - and as a bad guy, too. Most Jackie Chan fans
tend to loathe the film though, because Chan's screentime is very limited,
his performance less than special and his action scenes mediocre - plus
there's this terrible mole tagged to his cheek that looks like an escapee
from a bad comedy ... That all said, Police Woman is by no means
a good movie, but it isn't as bad as everybody says either, just a fast
paced and low budgeted action flick that has nothing to distinguish itself
from millions of others of its kind, but it at least delivers the goods.
