The Old West: Cowboy Rick (Jim Gentry) brings some excellent news to Indian chief Minowa (Kedric Wolfe), so Minowa gives him some sort of amulet. A short time later, while on his way home, Rick is ambushed by an outlaw (Bobby Beausoleil) who knocks him out and steals the amulet. Tuwana (Kathy Williams), a virgin girl from Minowa's tribe, finds knocked out Rick, nurses him back to health, and gives up her virginity to him.

At the same time, the outlaw rapes and kills chief Minowa's daughter (Catherine Share), and leaves the amulet he has stolen from Rick at the scene of the crime ... so everybody in Minowa's tribe is led to believe it was Rick who committed the crime. Tuwana steals away from the tribe to warn Rick, but ruins into his wife Lucy (Julia Blackburn), and the two women get into a catfight, until the gang of braves led by Minowa's son catches up with Tuwana. The two women are taken captive, but Lucy seduces Minowa's son so Tuwana can escape and warn Rick.

When Rick learns about the accusations, he enters Minowa's village on his own free will to give himself up, believing his friendship with the chieftain will pretty much save him ... it doesn't, and he is convicted to a castration - when Tuwana finally speaks out, admitting to having lost her virginity to the white man. According to the tribal law though, a woman who has lost her virginity may be taken as wife by any member of the tribe - and Minowa's son immediately claims her. Rick protests, but he has no say in this matter, thus he travels back home with his wife, whom the experience with the chieftain's son has opened up, sexually.

Meanwhile Minowa's son ties Tuwana to a tree, strips her naked and whips her violently ... which gives her an unexpected spontaneous orgasm.

Rick and Lucy stumble upon a naked white girl who was raped by several of Minowa's men. These men are expelled from the tribe immediately, but the whole tribe is sent packing, too, because the white are sure to retaliate, and they are known to make little difference between good and bad Indians. At least though the outlaw who has killed Minowa's daughter is found and violently castrated on the spot ...

The Ramrodder is one of these films that have a title so catchy that it's almost impossible to live up to it - and this movie doesn't, it's basically just a cheaply shot Western that makes up for its shortcomings in almost every other department with lots of (topless) female nudity - which of course is not essentially a bad thing, but then director Van Guylder sure is no Russ Meyer, and thus he delivers nothing more than a routine nudie that gets a tad boring before long. Of course, lovers of vintage erotica like myself will still find something to like about the film, but that said, it's certainly no masterpiece.

By the way, this film was filmed on the legendary Spahn Ranch when Charles Manson and Family had already put up camp there. Two of the castmembers in this film, Catherine Share and Bobby Beausoleil, were actually Manson Family members as well.
