Halloween is living hell for cops everywhere because on this day it's
hard to determine whether what it is is an actual crime or just a prank -
and it's especially bad for the Reno police force because they're, well, a
little bit stupid ... why else would deputy Jones (Cedric Yarbrough) and
deputy Garcia (Carlos Alazraqui) get their car egged by a bunch of masked
kids on a graveyard or would an anonymous prankster manage to blow up
deputy Williams' (Niecy Nash) car. However, our heroes are not all that
unprone to playing pranks on each other themselves, like tricking deputy
Weigel (Kerri Kenney) into coming to the precinct in costume as the only
one for the eightth year in a row, or t.p.ing Weigel's house, blaming it
on some neighbourhood kids. However, things really come to a head when Lt
Dangle (Thomas Lennon) helps deputy Jones to fake his own death by
shooting - and when he "comes to life again", it all ends in a
bloodbath. More than most of the other episodes of Reno
911!, this is just a series of episodes loosel tied together by a
common theme - which is of course why this one lacks any proper narrative
structure or build-up. Well, at least it does feature quite a few jokes
that actually are funny, so it's not a complete waste of time - but
certainly not one of the better episodes of the series.
