Even though he's pretty much penniless & down on his luck, Thomas
(Marquard Bohm) manages to not only pick up lovely Peggy (Uschi Obermaier)
& have sex with her, but he also moves in with her. What he doesn't
know though is that Peggy shares her appartment with three other girls,
Sylvie (Sylvia Kekulé), Isolde (Gaby Go) & Christine (Diana Körner),
& the four girls have made a pact to kill every man they get
friendly with after 5 days max.
However, Peggy, the leader of the girls, has fallen in love with Thomas
& suddenly proves reluctant to kill him, even after a week ...
When a stranger turns up & tells Thomas about the girls' habits of
dealing with men, Tomas initially doesn't believe him, but eventually he
questions Isolde, the weakest of the bunch who is not really into killing,
& she confirms everything the stranger has told Thomas ... & tells
him about a bomb assault on an office building the girls are preparing for
publicity reasons (?), an assault Thomas can just prevent.
Consequently Thomas moves out of the girls' appartment, but not
without letting them know where to find him. Soon Peggy turns up at his
new abode, but instead of killing him, she lets him persuade her to join
him on a trip to Morocco.
Later, Sylvie turns up at his place too, but Thomas can again charm his
way out of getting killed by her too. Instead, Isolde, who has grown too
weak for the other girls is shot.
Finally, Peggy & Thomas go on a romantic date at a lake, where
Thomas again tries to convince Peggy she can't shoot him ... but
unfortunately she has packed a gun with the intention of using it, &
chases him through the woods. Finally they shoot it out (suddenly he has a
gun as well, don't ask), & end up both dead.
At the time of its release, this film was thought as a provocation, a
sex & crime, leftist, feminist statement of its era, & for some
reason, the film is (at least in Germany) still regarded a cult classic of
the late 60'/early 70's.
Howerver, from today's point of view, the film doesn't really stand the
test of time, the basic plot is the same as in any number of sex &
crime films, only with some leftist slogans tagged on, the narration as
such is basically unexciting & does have its plotholes (despite the
simplicity of the story) & unnecessary scenes, & the dialogue is
just godawful, neither natural or credible nor really cool or consciously
over-the-top, merely the sort of wannabe-cool that is always on the verge
of being ridiculous.
So no, it's not a good film, but that said it might be watchable as a
nostalgic document of a bygone era with its unintentionally funny scenes,
& Uschi Obermaier - a leftist icon of the era - in mostly very short
dresses which she occasionally slips out of, is of course pure eyecandy.
