While baking a cake for her sister's wake, Evelyn (Anne-Carolyne
Binette) accidently cuts herself, and some drops of blood go into her
dough. Being short on time, she decides to proceed using the bloodied
dough - and her cake becomes surprisingly popular with her guests, which
she clearly attributes to the addition of blood to the recipe. She tries
to duplicate that success using her boyfriend's (Fabio Ricci) and later a
poor delivery guy's (Renny Jachowicz) blood, but the results are never the
same, which leads her to the conclusion that her blood is special. And
that in turn leads to a dubious life changing decision that includes a
sinister group of people led by the mysterious Mater Scarlet (Astrida
Auza) ... The Scarlet Vultures is quite an unusual
little horror gem as it's rather slowburn in building up its tension yet
high on atmosphere and creepiness - and the ending is sure to catch anyone
by surprise. And add to that a strong ensemble cast and some truly
beautiful images, and you've got yourself something deliciously weird.
