Greg is a masochist ... but so much so that it has become a big
problem, as presently what he does to get off is to beat himself over the
head with a wrench. So a friend of his sends him to psychiatrist Dr
Geldman ... who desparately tries to drug Greg, but he refuses, knowing
this is not the right way ... so she just stabs him. For you know, Dr
Geldman is not a psychiatrist of the caring kind, she's a fucking lunatic
who together with her partner Tom likes to chain up innocent victims in
their torture dungeon, to torture and kill them and have sex in front of
their corpses. But the good doctor should have better made sure Greg was
really dead when she stabbed him, as he wasn't, and now he returns with
vengeance on his mind ... With it's matter-of-factish framing
narration, Sinful Sockpuppets almost comes across as a piece of
sleaze horror disguised as a morality play from yesteryear (roughly 1930s
to 1970s), and the black and white pictures would also suggest as much -
but of course, it becomes very clearly from early on that the movie
doesn't take itself very seriously, which would liken it more to John
Waters' early films or maybe something from Andy Warhol's Factory
... and yet in all the movie doesn't feel to be derivative at all, as its
entire cast is made up of sock puppets (and not even terribly good ones),
and their appearance as such is just so wild that it does take the film in
another dimension - sure, it's still basically a trash movie, and a very
blunt one ... but it's also bloody hilarious, really!!!
