Annie Sprinkle, the co-director, writer and star of The Sluts and Goddesses Video Workshop, had been doing sex work for a good 20 years when this video came out, in various positions, including prostitute, as she proudly admits to in this video. And she was never one to shy away from anything but threw herself into it with a gusto - so you could expect quite a bit from a (pseudo-)documentary about sex that has her name written all over it.

However, the film simply fails to fulfill its promise - sure, there's quite a bit of explicit (lesbian) sex in this one, and Ms Sprinkle does get fistfucked on one occasion, too, but then again way too much time is spent with make-up tips, breathing techniques, yoga-exercises, esoteric gobbledegook and the like to really stimulate the audience, while for a documentary as such, everything covered in this movie is only touched upon and often presented in a too light-weight manner to really be taken seriously.

In fact this doesn't really feel like a sex empowerment video (which it claims to be) by a sexworker as experienced as Annie Sprinkle but a mockumentary made by a couple of housewives with an exhibitionist streak and a camera and too much time on their hands. Well, as such at least it's amusing and while the film is actually rather tame for both its time and its star, there are at least some erotic sequences (including Ms Sprinkle's 5 minute orgasm) in it - so not a total waste of time, but not total satisfaction, either.
