A couple of youngsters ask for the World Aquanautic Security Patrol's
help to find the legendary underwater Forest of Gems, but when
Commander Shore outright refuses, they go exploring themselves on their
tiny submarine Hepcat ... and soon enough Hepcat runs into trouble as her
hull cn't take the pressure - so it's the World Aquanautic Security
Patrol's supersub Stingray to the rescue. Once the youngsters are rescued
though, Stingray's captain Troy decides to do a little exploring on his
own, but soon enough falls into a cavity and realizes his oxygen is almost
gone.
Then though, he takes off his oxygen mask, realizes he can breath
underwater, finds the forest of gems ... and becomes the richest man in
the world. Soon enough, he has built himself an underwater castle where he
lives - with his colleagues from work, weirdly enough, his communications
officer Phones, their secretary Atlanta and their mascot, the mute mermaid
Marina - and to make his life perfect, Marina is suddenly able to talk to
him via telepathy. Life couldn't be better, so it's no big surprise that
Troy neglects his duties in favour for his pleasure. But if Stingray isn't
out there to patrol the seas, who is there ?
Consequently, Troy's underwater castle is destroyed by some evil sea
creatures with ray guns soon enough, when ...
When Troy is brought out of a delirium by Phones. Turns out that the
whole thing about the forest of germs was just a dream and in fact Phones
had only just saved Troy from suffocating underwater. And Troy is happy,
because he didn't like himself in his dream anyways ...
A very cheesy episode with a suitably cheesy ending - unfortunately not
cheesy in a good way. There's little action and much acting in this one,
which is not good since the puppets are all pretty terrible actors.
However, the most annoying thing about the episode are the two youngsters,
who deliver all their dialogue in some kind of hip talk (or what someone
thought to be hip) to a point where it gets unbearable - ouch !
