The crew of the supersub Stingray are captured by some subterranean
beings - but then released as the subterraneans claim they don't mean any
harm actually. Actually though, the subterraneans have probed the crew's
minds and collected sufficient data to successfully attack Marineville and
seize control of the World Aquanaut Security Patrol headquarters -
which they do by luring Stingray away from Marineville, then drill their
way into the headquarters, take everyone inside hostage and lock
Stingray's access to Marineville for good. Somehow though, the Stingray
crew missile their way into the headquarters and soon free the hostages -
leaving the subterraneans with just one choice: Try to seize Stingray and
make a getaway ... but Marina, the mute mermaid has been left behind on
Stingray, and she now sees to it that the subterraneans don't end up on
Stingra but in the sea, where they can easily be fished out.
Subterranean invaders making their way to the upper world with
powerdrills sounds like lots of fun, however the episode is not, mainly
because it's so incredibly small-scale: the whole subterranean army seems
to consist of no more than two individuals, and the solution of the whole
thing being just pushing the baddies into the water seems like really
lame, doesn't it ?
