Because an airport needs a new runway, a lighthouse has to be shut down
- much to the dismay of its keeper Frank. But when Frank has already left
the lighthouse, the light goes back on, causing an airplane to crash.
Frank, when he returns to the lighthouse to turn the light off again, is
abducted by some underwater beings. Next, Stingray arrives on the scene,
but her captain Troy Tempest and communications officer Phones are also
abducted by the underwater dwellers, leaving mute Marina alone in the
supersub, and she, being voiceless, has problems to call in
reinforcements.
Meanwhile Frank, Troy and Phones are held in some underwater city,
where the underwater dwellers tell them they need the light of the
lighthouse because it is the lifeforce of some plants that provide the
city with energy. Without this energy, the city has just about a week to
live ... and just as this is established, the authorities switch of the
Lighthouse's power.
Eventually, the underwater dwellers and the surface dwellers agree to
send Frank up to negotiate a deal that would turn the power on again, but
he has just one hour, otherwise Troy and Phones have to die - and this
almost falls through when Marina doesn't immediately trust Frank ... but
ultimately everything is resolved, the underwater dwellers get their own
underwater light, Troy and Phones are set free, and Frank gets some
traffic lights to watch over.
Apart from a quite well-made planecrash, this episode has rather little
to go for and is actually rather dull.
