Portia (Kim Yates) heads a school for stripping that teaches women not
only to undress in a really sexy manner but is also supposed to help them
in their lives ... somehow. Basically, the film follows the lives of four
of Portia's students from entering the school to graduation day:
- Michelle (Lauren Hays) has a husband (Bobby Johnston) who spends all
of his evenings in strip clubs. Now that doesn't bother her too much,
but she wants to learn stripping herself to persuade him to spend more
evenings at home, where the entertainment is just as hot.
- Daphne (Sage Kirkpatrick) is a very repressed but cute women with
body image issues, and she starts to strip to try and bring the spark
back into her marriage.
- Julianna (Ashlyn Gere) is a prostitute who tries to improve her
market value by lerning how to strip. And to get away from her pimp
(J.T. Pontino).
- Betsy (Amber Newman) is just a naive young woman who wants to bring
some spice to her sexlife. However, she is also very open-minded and
is the only one to strike a friendship with prostitute Julianna. This
eventually leads to the two of them having some hot lesbian sex.
At graduation, which is of course a big performance of the girls at a
local stripclub, some (though not all) of the narrative threads are
resolved.

Stripper Wives is basically a film that falls between too many
stools: Of course, its emphasis is on naked women (the
"stripper"-part of the title was a dead giveaway I guess) and
quite a bit of softcore sex, but on top of that, it also tries to be a
film about female empowerment, a serious drama, an introduction into the
world of softcore stripping, and it also features a few too many goofy
moments - and all of these elements stand in the way of one another, also
because they're hardly above clichée level, and any ambition of serious
storytelling is of course squashed by the film's insistence of squeezing
in a sex scene every few minutes.
Well, some of the girls are very hot at least, and they do get naked -
a lot. Now that doesn't save the film of course, but it's better than
nothing, now isn't it?
