A group of students and their teacher (Bob Clymire) accompany an
archeologist (Bill Simonsen) to his dig, and they discover a sealed up
cave that contains a prehistoric mummy. This is of course an amazing find,
but once the mummy is brought backt o civilisation, it awakens from
millenia-long slumber and goes on a killing spree right away, Our heroes
and the local sheriff set up a little trap that's so badly conceived the
Sheriff almost gets killed, but ultimately, a bucket of gas and some
signal flares do the trick to reduce the creature to ashes. A
really badly made film from the 1950's: It's badly writen, full of bland
dialogue, badly acted, pretty much no effort was put into the direction of
the whole thing, and the creature outfit is not only utterly unconvincing,
it's also pretty much anything but scary. Ti might be a treat to watch for
trash movie masochists like myself, but even the regular bad movie
afficionando will find it hard to sit through this one. IOnterestingly, in
1978, this film was dusted off, stretched by about half an hour of new
footage (the film itself is a mere 60 minutes long) and sold as Curse
of Bigfoot - not that this was a very much improved version of Teeenagers
Battle the Thing though ...
