One year ago, young Brianna (Najarra Townsend) killed herself because
she wasn't accepted into a certain spoilt-bitch-sorority. This year,
Stephanie (Holly Madison), head of the sorority, makes the sorority's three pledges
tell her horror stories. The first is about a possessed doll driving a
girl (Rebekah Kochan) crazy and ultimately killing her to be with her
boyfriend (Ryan Freeman). In the second story, a beautiful actress
(Bridget Marquandt) in her thirties tries to recapture past glories by
hooking up with a Transylvanian director (John D'Aquino) to make a horror
movie. Unfortunately, the director is one of the undead, and by torturing
her to death, he makes the
actress one of them as well. In the third and final story, three girls
(Amanda Ward, Jessica Lowe, Veronique Vicari) are threatened by a
myterious killer after having witnessed one of his murders over the phone.
Unfortunately, they suspect all people who are trying to help them,
including the cable guy (Brett Hunt) and a cop (James McPherson) to be the
murderer, and ultimately, everyone gets slaughtered. Especially the
ending of the third story leaves Stephanie dissatisfied, but that hardly
matters anymore, because suddenly it turns out the whole sorority has been
poisoned. By whom? By the girl who told the third story, Haley (Jean Louise O'Sullivan), a girl who wouldn't
dream to join such a community of spoilt bitches herself, but she's the
sister of Brianna, who killed herself one year ago ... and now she just
wanted to get even. A horror movie filmed in the Playboy
Mansion starring several Playboy bunnies ... now let me assure you, the
finished result is not as bad as this makes it sound (unfortunately, it's
neither as sexy), it's just your typical anthology horror film with three
stories you have probably seen better (and maybe also worse) elsewhere,
but at least the framing story is good in a mean-spirited sort of way. In
all, The Telling is not a film you need to have seen, but it doesn't hurt
terribly much to watch it either.
