Suffering from a mysterious sickness, Bim is hospitalized - thing is,
the hospital is haunted, and when she and her two friends try to figure
out what's wrong about the place, they more and more come to the
conclusion that Bim is in the center of the mystery, since a ghost in her
likeness is wandering the corridors, and sometimes Bim herself takes on
the appearance of a rotting corpse. Eventually, this scares even her
friends away, but Bim is determined to find out what's going on anyhow.
Her father tries to dissuade her, but then he's killed by whatever it is. Eventually,
Bim has a vision about what had happened ages ago: A woman, who will turn
out to be Bim's mother (which is why her ghost resembles Bim) tried to run
away with her baby (little Bim), but eventually was stopped and killed by
Bim's father, who then went to raise the kid with another woman Bim
thought to be her mother. Finally knowing the whole story, Bim rushes to
her (foster-)mother's place to save her from the wrath of her real
mother's ghost, since Bim's foster mother never knew the truth about what
was going on to begin with - and Bim succeeds just in time. A
competently made piece of Indonesian horror cinema that suffers from
exactly the same major flaw so many Indonesian horror films suffer from:
It quickly sets up a story, then fills its plot up with the same shock
scenes repeated over and over again until in the last 10 or so minutes it
pulls a solution to the underlying mystery out of the hat, pretty much
featuring no plot development before the finale - which is a pity, because
a quite atmospheric directorial effort and an interesting basic plot as
such would have deserved a better movie.
