The Sun Probe is a manned spaceship that is to fly closer to the sun
than any other ship before her - but once the ship gets too close, the
retro-rockets simply won't fire, and it seems the astronauts (or
solarnauts, as they are called in this episode to honour their mission)
are doomed to collide with the sun ... but Brains of International Rescue
figures the retro rockets can be fired via remote control from
International Rescue's rocketship Thunderbird 3, so Thunderbird 3 is sent
after the Sun Probe, and the crew manages to fire the retro rockets from
afar and the Sun Probe can travel safely back home. The end? Not so,
because now the retro rockets of Thunderbird 3 herself cannot be fired and
now she is on collision course with the sun ... until Brains manages to
fire these retro rockets via remote control from the colds of Mount Arkan
... One of the lesser episodes of Thunderbirds,
mainly because it is extremely heavy on human drama, while dolls with wet
faces simply don't spell imminent danger to the audience. Some effects and
sets look pretty nice though.
