Lady Penelope meets Duchess Deborah at a casino at the French Riviera
... and sees her lose almost everything she's got. Of course, the roulette
table she's playing at is rigged, but when found out, the casino owner and
the crooked groupier make an escape just in time to evade capture. Now,
all that's left for the Duchess to do is to loan out a most expensive
painting - pretty much the last thing she's got - to a rich businessman.
Thing is, two crooks have been following her and now take her hostage
while trying to cut in on the loan for the painting. The businessman of
course smells foul play almost immediately and tries to hold one of the
crooks at gunpoint ... when a shot accidently destroys the painting ... The
Duchess meanwhile is kept in a house that's set on fire ... and only
because Lady Penelope gave her a tracking device are the men from
International Rescue able to locate and save her with their amazing
equipment. And while she's recovering in hospital, the Duchess reveals
that the destroyed painting was only a copy, she has brought along the
original hidden in her umbrella ... And now, being able to sell her story
to newspapers, she'll be rich again in no time. Silly and
convoluted story-wise, this is nevertheless one of the better episodes of Thunderbirds,
thanks to much action and explosions and the usual great miniatures and
special effects. Only the clichéd Britishness of some of the
characters is a bit annoying.
